Welcoming a new puppy into your home is exciting, but it also comes with challenges like chewing and house-training accidents. One of the most common mistakes new owners make is underestimating the time, effort, and knowledge required for proper training.

As puppies grow, their energy levels can quickly become overwhelming. Too often, well-meaning families take on a puppy without the necessary training skills, leading to frustration. This can result in owners feeling unprepared, sometimes leading them to rehome the puppy or surrender them to a shelter, mistakenly believing the puppy is difficult or that they are not suited for dog ownership.

Enrolling in puppy classes provides essential guidance, helping owners build a strong foundation in training, socialization, and communication. These classes not only prevent common behavior issues but also strengthen the bond between you and your new companion, setting both of you up for long-term success.

During Puppy Class, we’ll discuss:
  • Crate training and housebreaking
  • Basic obedience training with treats, including Come, sit, loose-leash walking, and down
  • Socialization tips- how to properly socialize your puppy to new people, places, sounds and things.
  • Engaging in puppy enrichment- How to keep your puppy calm and provide an enriching life
  • Husbandry- learn how to set your puppy up for handling and husbandry at the vet, groom and at home.
  • Leash and potty training
  • Nurturing a good temperament
  • Puppy corrections for behaviors like biting, digging, and jumping
  • Proper care for your puppy

American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior Position Statement on Puppy Socialization

"The primary and most important time for puppy socialization is the first three months of life. During this time puppies should be exposed to as many new people, animals, stimuli and environments as can be achieved safely and without causing overstimulation manifested as excessive fear, withdrawal or avoidance behavior. For this reason, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior believes that it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive such socialization before they are fully vaccinated." ....Read More
